Course Structure

Aiming for a grade 4. (9 weeks)


1) Types of Number and non-calculator number skills - this will focus on factors, multiples, primes, square numbers and will equip you with skills to help make multiplication and division easier in a non calculator setting.

2) Fractions, Decimals and Percentages - This session will develop the links between FDP.

3) Ratio - This is one of the biggest areas in the foundation GCSE maths and will develop ratio and link it to the fractions, decimals and percentages unit, showing you that the skills are the same!

4) Conversions - We will develop the use of ratio tables to be able to convert between metric units and currency conversions. We will also look at time conversions.

5) Perimeter and Area - this will look at developing your skills on worded questions involving area and perimeter.

6) Volume - Following on from area, we will look at developing your understanding of volume of prisms and applying these to problem solving.

7) Simplifying - This will focus on simplifying algebra techniques including expanding and simplifying.

8) Angles - A common area where students drop marks, we will look at techniques to ensure you maximise your marks on these questions.

9) Wordy GCSE questions - Foundation GCSE. This session focuses on how to approach worded exam questions and looks at possible techniques that can be used to pick out key facts.

What is the Community?

This is a FREE private chat area where you can ask the tutor questions, share comments or work, and feel part of a community. At National Tutors we feel this is important to have this facility as it can be daunting learning online especially if you are Home Educated. At National Tutors you are never left. You are part of us!

How do I get access to the sessions?

After enrolling in one of our programs, you will login to our online learning platform. From there, you will be able to click on all the recorded sessions or view the schedule of live sessions be provided with a link to access the live sessions. If you have any trouble accessing the live sessions, just message the tutor on their Community page.

Do you do private 1:1 sessions?

Yes, you just contact the Tutor who will organise this with you.

What if I can't make the Live session?

All live sessions are recorded so you can access the recording at any point after.

My child is in Year 11 and needs help revising.

My child is SEN and struggles. How can you help?

At National Tutors, we understand that every child has unique learning needs. We constantly looking for tutors who specialise courses for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to ensure that they can learn in a way that works best for them. Some of tutors are neurodivergent themselves or have SEN children themselves so can empathise and support parents as well as the student. At National Tutors we just want to help children reach their full potential no matter who they are.

I can not find the course I need!
